Before the Break

Before the Break is a limited edition fine art photograph capturing the moment where sea, foam and storm begin to merge. Shot just above the shoreline beneath a heavy sky in Hawks Nest NSW, the image places the viewer directly in the water as a weather front moves in across the horizon.

The tilted horizon and close detail of the foam create tension and movement, while the restrained palette of charcoal, slate, white and soft blue-grey keeps the work calm and refined. Rather than presenting a perfect postcard view, the photograph feels immediate and immersive — raw, cold and atmospheric.
